Like Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8, the player must obtain "powerups" and defeat enemy vehicles, but must capture the enemy flags in order to win. However, all of the vehicles are tanks, hence its name. The game itself is short, making it quite unpopular among gamers. It was also one of the very first PlayStation 2 titles out the door. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Battletanx series, since it has similar gameplay to that as well, and is made by the same company, 3DO. Also a mototank from Battletanx: Global Assault can be seen in the opening title sequence, and many of the playable tanks are inspired or directly copied from Battletanx. A reversed M-80 (only in the PS1 version of Battletanx: Global Assault) can also be seen in game as the unplayable AI controlled Skorpion Bomb Tank. ==Playable vehicles== *M1A3 - Standard American main battle tank with 105mm gun driven by a female soldier called Glory. *Marauder - Canadian medium tank with a Gatling gun, driven by the lumberjack Butcher Bronski. *Dragonfly - A futuristic flying light tank from Japan driven by the ninja girl Shadow. *FLP-E - World War I tank driven by the vampire, Blood Hound, and capable of flipping itself sideways. *Wraith - Experimental Soviet tank with cloaking device. Black Widow, the red haired driver of the tank, shares her name and physical appearance with the Marvel character of the same name *Rhino - Heavily armored assault gun resembling a German Jagdpanzer IV or Russian SU-100. *Titan - Huge siege tank with powerful gun but slow speed. *Scorcher - A World War II Australian Sherman tank with a flamethrower. *Manticore - M1 Abrams tank driven by the mad scientist Re-Volt and armed with a twin laser turret. *Aries - A bulldozer tank driven by Krush.
